Abstract

Introduction: Resilience is not a defined and stable state, it is rather a path of growth and development for the Nursing professional. The main objective of this work was to characterize the level of resilience in nurses who work in emergencies and in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Method: A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out on nurses who work in emergency and serious care areas of the “Gral. Milanés”, Granma province, Cuba. The sample was made up of 33 nurses selected by the intentional non-probabilistic method. The survey technique was used, to measure resilience the Walding and Young scale was used. The type of sampling was simple random. Results: The age group between 36 to 45 years (73.3%) predominated, the female sex with 55.5%, the married with 56.2%, 76.9% have two children and according to work experience, nurses are between 21 and 30 years old, reaching 70.5%. In the resilience scale associated with the study variables, the medium level predominated. Conclusion: In general terms, the level of resilience was characterized according to the sociodemographic and labor variables studied in nurses from the “Gral. Milanés".
