Introduction: Adolescence is a stage that causes significant changes, which becomes even more complicated when facing an adolescent pregnancy, being susceptible to difficulties for both mother and child, in addition to facing social challenges such as dropping out of school or early incorporation into the labor area and where the family plays a crucial role, positive or negative, which determines the way in which the pregnant adolescent takes care of herself. Methodology: The objective of the research was to determine the relationship between family functioning and self-care of pregnant adolescents, using a descriptive, correlational and cross-sectional method, where the Family Function Effectiveness Scale and the Actions for Self-Care of Pregnant Adolescents instrument were used. Results and Discussion: It was found that family functionality obtained an effective level of 90.6%, while with respect to the self-care practices of pregnant adolescents 96.6% complied with the necessary self-care, which positively relates the variables, concluding that the higher the family functionality, the higher the level of self-care.
