Introduction: Human Brucellosis (BH) is an infectious disease; its consequences can become a disabling disease. The most common sources of infection are through the ingestion of unpasteurized dairy products such as raw milk, cream and cheese considering indirect contact or direct contact with infected animals. Objective: To determine the prevalence of human brucellosis and associated risk factors in workers of the Municipal meat packing plant Pampa de la Isla, Santa Cruz-Bolivia 2023. Methodology: Diagnostic tests were used with the ELISA enzymeimmunoassay technique. An observational, descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional, descriptive study was carried out. Results: The prevalence of human brucellosis was 16.7%, with 8 of 48 workers affected (6 IgG (+) and 2 IgM (+)). Associated risk factors were consumption of unpasteurized dairy products (OR=1.67), non-use of personal protective equipment (PPE) (OR=1.75). Knowledge of brucellosis was a protective factor (OR=0.6). The clinical manifestations in positive cases were arthralgia, chills and eye damage (38% each), myalgia and unexplained weight loss (25%). The distribution of positive cases was not uniform among the slaughterhouse work areas, being higher in the viscera area. Conclusions: The prevalence was higher compared to similar studies and is related to the risk factors identified. A predominance of clinical manifestations of chronic brucellosis was identified, correlating with laboratory results.
