AURICULOTHERAPY IN THE MANAGEMENT OF ACUTE CERVICAL PAIN

Background: Traditional Chinese Medicine has demonstrated for centuries its effectiveness in the treatment of disorders of the organism at different levels. Objective: To determine the efficacy of auriculotherapy in the management of acute cervical pain, in the Rehabilitation Room corresponding to the health area of the Previsora Community Teaching Polyclinic, between the months of September 2022 to April 2023.Method: An open late phase II clinical trial was carried out where the sample consisted of 30 patients. The data were obtained from the clinical records with prior informed consent and were processed in a computerized manner. Results: The female sex predominated in ages between 31 and 45 years. Most of the patients presented cervical pain of one week or less of moderate intensity. Auriculotherapy managed to eliminate pain in most of the patients and there were no severe adverse reactions. The results of the treatment were evaluated as excellent. Conclusions: Auriculotherapy was an effective method in the management of acute neck pain with good results according to pain assessment using the numerical scale, it produced less adverse reactions than conventional treatment, providing a better quality of life to the patient.
