CHARACTERISTICS AND ATTITUDES REGARDING SPIRITUAL CARE OF NURSING STUDENTS AT A UNIVERSITY IN CHILE

Objective: Identify the relationship between attitudes about spiritual and religious care of Nursing students at a public university in Chile. Methodology: cross-sectional descriptive quantitative study; The sample was made up of 148 participants from different levels of the career between April and June 2021, meeting the inclusion criteria. The questionnaire on attitudes about spiritual and religious care (ACER) was used. Bivariate analysis was performed for the associations between socio-demographic, academic and religiosity variables, using the Mann-Whitney U test and the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: The surveyed participants presented mean values in dimension A (knowledge of the spirituality and religiosity construct, range 15-45) of 39.8 (SD +/-2.9), in dimension B (role of the nurse regarding spiritual and religious care, range 5-15) of 12.9 (SD +/-1.4) and in dimension C (nurse interventions for spiritual and religious care, range 10-30). of 26.2 (DS +/-2.3). Conclusion: Teaching in relation to human and spiritual aspects are essential to train comprehensive professionals, which is considered a transcendental aspect within nursing education.
