Abstract

The high demand for anthocyanin worldwide for its multiple benefits for human health and the diversity of agroecological zones in Bolivia, justifies the need to explore the production of purple corn in different places of the department of Santa Cruz. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of six planting seasons on the agronomic characteristics of Kculli-type purple corn. The study was carried out in the fields of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (Santa Cruz de la Sierra) during the summer of 2020/2021. The experiment included six different seeding seasons (treatments), from december 2020 to May 2021. A randomized block experimental design was used. The variables studied were: flowering time (male and female), plant and ear insertion height, and yield components. The results obtained show that the best planting season occurs between december and february, since the results are favorable in all the variables evaluated. After the fourth season, the same variables evaluated tend to decrease. It is concluded that the best planting time is the second week of february to obtain the best grain yields of purple corn of the Moragro variety.
