FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE CHOICE OF PROFESSIONAL CAREER OF UNIVERSITY APPLICANTS

In the following research, a study is carried out with the objective of identifying the factors that influence the choice of professional career of applicants to the Faculty of Economic Sciences. Without a doubt, career choice is a problem that affects young people in the currently, being a great challenge for those who are in the identity construction stage. The research was carried out on the premises of the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences of the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University during the first weeks of March 2023. The methodology applied in this research is descriptive with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. It was carried out in a single moment to describe and identify the study factors. The sample was made up of 122 applicants, belonging to the academic proficiency test of the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences. Simple random probabilistic sampling was used. Three dimensions are studied as factors that intervene in the choice of professional career, which are personal, family and socioeconomic. The results show that the two most predominant factors among all applicants for choosing a professional career are the family factor and the socioeconomic factor.
