IMPLEMENTATION OF E-COMMERCE AND THE USE OF CRYPTOCURRENCIES AS AN INTERNATIONALIZATION STRATEGY FOR BOLIVIAN COMPANIES

Abstract
The present study analyzes how the implementation of e-commerce and the use of cryptocurrencies can constitute viable strategies for the internationalization of Bolivian companies, especially in the context of the current exchange rate crisis. Through a mixed methodological approach, which combines documentary analysis, semi-structured interviews with experts, and surveys applied to local companies, the main barriers and opportunities for the adoption of these tools were identified. The results reveal that, although e-commerce has grown significantly in Bolivia, limitations associated with technological infrastructure, distrust in digital payments, and the low penetration of financial services persist. Likewise, the use of cryptocurrencies faces legal restrictions and an incipient regulatory framework, which limits their use as a means of payment in the domestic market, although it emerges as a potential option for international transactions. The research concludes that, although structural and regulatory challenges exist, the progressive integration of e-commerce and cryptocurrencies can strengthen the competitiveness of Bolivian small and medium-sized enterprises in global markets, as long as it is accompanied by public policies that promote digital infrastructure, financial education, and regulatory clarity.
